Tsatsu Tsikata

A well-known lawyer and former Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Tsatsu Tsikata was also a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ghana from the early 1970s to the late 1980s. He is known to have taught many lawyers who now occupy important leadership positions in Ghana, including the current Speaker of Parliament, the Chief Justice, and most judges of the Supreme Court.

As a lawyer, he has represented many national personalities, including Mr. William Ofori-Atta and former President Rawlings, and taken up human rights causes for persons imprisoned during periods of military rule. He was involved in the election petitions in 2013 and 2021.

His role in the setting up of the national petroleum corporation, GNPC, which he headed from October 1988 till December 2000, is also well known.

He accepted Christ as his personal saviour while at Mfantsipim School through the ministry of the Scripture Union and was also actively involved in the University Christian Fellowship in the University of Ghana, Legon while a student.
