Here are a list of books and resources that have helped us and others to grow in our/their faith and living out The Call to Love, Excellence and Truth. We recommend these based on our personal experiences but do note also that suggestions here are not endorsements. We are not endorsing teachers or ministries but rather recommending individual books and resources.

These recommendations are not 100% endorsement of the authors views, or standpoint on all matters. It is rare, even in Christian circles that we will agree with 100% of another believer’s point of view. Yet, deferring points of view, when discussed lovingly, will help us to be sharpened in our faith and practice.

We believe these books to be valuable in part or as a whole, and we hope you find these beneficial in coming to Salvation in Jesus Christ or your maturing as a Disciple of Christ.

Gods At War

In this book, Kyle Idleman helps every believer recognize that there are false gods at war within each of us, and they battle for the place of glory and control in our lives. According to him, idolatry is not an issue; it is the issue. And he reveals which false gods we are allowing on the throne of our lives by asking a number of questions in this book. This book explains that we are all wired for worship, but we often end up valuing and honouring the idols of money, food, romance, success, and many others that keep us from the intimate relationship with God that we desire

Finishing Strong

For the man who wants to climb the character ladder more than the corporate one, this is an essential tool. Steve Farrar has good news for the average man: it doesn't matter if you've had a great start in the Christian life, or a rough one. It doesn't matter if you've stumbled time and again, or even fallen flat on your face. What matters most in this all-important race of life is how you finish. According to Farrar, the man who hangs in there for the long haul with his wife, his kids, and his Lord is an exception these days. Finishing Strong, offers lively use of Scripture, contemporary illustrations, and study questions to equip every reader to be that exception.

The Bait of Satan

This book exposes one of the most deceptive snares Satan uses to get believers out of the will of God--offense. This trap restrains countless Christians, severs relationships, and widens the gulfs between us. Jesus said, "It is impossible that no offenses should come” (Luke 17:1). Although you will encounter offense, you can choose how you will react. In this book, John Bevere shows you how to identify the traps ahead of you and escape the victim mentality. With declaration-style prayers and testimonials from people whose lives have been changed by his message, this book will inspire you to stay free from offense and its destructive power

God’s Woodshed

This book highlights the power of a cleansed life to a believer. If the heart cry of your life, like the author's, includes having power with God, seeing your prayers answered, meeting everyday problems victoriously, enjoying personal revival and producing fruit through faithful service, then this book is for you. This book represents the pathway many Christians follow. Read it. It could change your life.

5 Days to A New Marriage

Whether your marriage needs to be rescued from desperate trouble or simply could improve from good to great, change is possible. The authors share how almost every marital conflict comes from the same place: a pattern of emotional pain buried deep within every husband and wife. When couples recognize this cycle, then learn to replace it with more marriage-affirming patterns, the results are breathtaking. Tired, predictable arguments transform into life-giving interactions. Relationships are changed forever. The authors draw from broad counseling experiences, current mindfulness studies, and recent advances in brain research-along with case examples, practical exercises, and scriptural lessons-to refresh and heal even the most problematic marriages. A better marriage is possible. A lifetime of joy is just five days away.
